Let me back up and tell you the full story

The thing is, I haven't always been healthy

I struggled for years with weight loss. I tried fasting in the morning (a fancy way of saying I was starving myself until lunch), cutting out carbs (my addiction to CFA only allowed that one to last about a week), and getting a personal trainer at our gym. But I was STILL unable to lose weight and keep it off for any length of time.

I grew up the way most American children grow up. We ate lots of processed foods, never drank much water, and sugar was one of our main food groups (kinda like Buddy the Elf). 

In high school, I became really self-conscious of my body. I played multiple sports and tried so hard to skip as many meals as I could so that I would eat as little calories as possible. 

Then in college, I started to focus less on how I looked and fell into the eating habits I had growing up. I ate ice cream for breakfast nearly every day, I drank at least 4 cans of Coca-Cola per day, and the workers at Chick-fil-a knew my order when I rolled up to the window because I was there so often.

I rarely exercised, never drank water, and I was so tired all the time that I was late to class far too often. 

In 2019, I had graduated college and was working as a third grade teacher in Anderson, SC. I went to the Clemson fan day that August and was so excited to meet my favorite player, Tee Higgins. But when I saw the picture that was taken... something inside of me woke up. I knew I couldn't keep eating the way I was. Something had to change.

That next March, the world was put on pause and I decided to use that time to start working out again. I took videos of myself and posted them on my IG stories and quickly started to get DMs from friends with encouragement or questions. 

Over the course of that year, I fell in love with sharing my story and helping others through their own journey. I watched videos, listened to podcasts, read books - anything I could to soak up knowledge about nutrition, habit building, and weight loss. I lost 30 pounds and have kept that weight off ever since.

In 2022, I started my courses at The Institute for Integrative Nutrition to become an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. By the end of that year I was seeing clients consistently and helping them actually understand food - what to eat, when to eat it, and why eating certain things is actually important. 

In June of 2023, I left teaching and started Laura.B.Healthy LLC where I have now helped over 85 women to heal their relationship with food, overcome their all-or-nothing mindset, and build healthy habits they are finally able to stick to!
